The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) contracted with Nava to build out the agency’s cloud infrastructure (CMS Cloud), including support for developers building on the platform. As design lead, I helped CMS and our vendor partners design and coordinate multiple support channels from support ticket submission to security incident response, in-person onboarding support, and online self-service content.

IT Infrastructure Strategy

Design Lead, 2019

Design-led strategy for IT infrastructure on a $5B federal contract. For this project, I led the design facilitation workstream, co-creating the agency’s first formal IT infrastructure strategy and feature roadmap with Office of the CIO leadership. I managed a team of two to plan and facilitate 5 client workshops, synthesize and validate findings, and communicate and generate buy-in with the client.

Interventions to make technology procurement faster and simpler. As a fellow with the Boston Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics, I evaluated the RFP-writing tool Govlist, conducted user research, and created a web-based guide to procuring services in the City. I then mapped the procurement process related to RFP's for services over $35,000, and made recommendations for improvements.

San Francisco Business Portal

Project Manager, 2015

The San Francisco Business Portal is the City’s primary online business resource. A joint project of the Mayor’s Office and Department of Technology, the Portal aggregates business permitting information and walks prospective and existing business owners through the steps required to start, manage, and grow a business in San Francisco. It shows that regulatory information can be clear and concise, that we can put users at the center of government and build digital tools that people want to use.
